Our last 2 days on Isla

Happy late Thanksgiving everyone...took a few days off to relax and hang with the family.

For our third day and last full day on Isla, we focused on relaxing. But before we can relax, we need to eat breakfast. Margaret of Casa El Pio, recommended we check out the Mercado - the local market. The Mercado is a bunch of counter with table seating that offer breakfast and lunch. The food was simple, service was great and the price was unbeatable. The french toast was our favorite.

After breakfast, we made our way to Playa Norte. It was a nice short walk to get to the beach.

We walked up and down the beach, looking for the perfect spot. Along the way we saw this old fella. It took everything I had to walk away without taking him home...

We walked up and down Playa Norte a few times before finding the perfect spot.
At first we started out with just our towels, but I quickly convinced Jackson it would be worth it to get some chairs. At Sunset Grill, they wanted to charge us 110 pesos for 2 chairs and an umbrella, but I told them that we were going to order drinks and food and they waived the chair charge. I ordered the 'Sunset Coloda' - I can't remember what was in it, but it was DELICIOUS.

We swam, then ordered some ceviche (again). It was good, but Jackson ate too much and then went for a swim right away. His stomach didn't like that. He headed back to the hotel for some alone time while I snoozed on the beach a little longer. We put the camera away for the rest of the day....until Dinner. We went to Bally Hoo's, we couldn't stop thinking about fish tacos. But of course we started with what else?? Ceviche!!Very tasty. And so were the fish tacos. They definitely became one of our many food highlights of the trip.

We strolled through downtown on a leisurely walk back to the hotel. Time to get ourselves ready for our departure tomorrow morning.

On Sunday, we strolled around looking for a good breakfast place and ran into Cazuela M&J. I had eaten there last time I was on Isla, but they had moved as their primary location was under construction. The coffee was great and food of course delicious.

After breakfast, I got to hang out with the Anto's and the Mitchell's - which was great because we had missed each other up until that point. Now reality sets back in and we have to head back home. At least we have Christa to go home to...but we will definitely miss being on Isla. Before we left, Jackson got a Hibiscus juice for $1 and I bought my last beer. Jackson mentioned it was too early for a beer but if it was, they wouldn't be selling it right?

We took both of these to go on the ferry. Our last view just before the ferry left the island. We leave the island so relaxed and so reminded of our love. It was a perfect mini-vacation for us. We can't wait to be back here in March for the wedding, vacationing with our guests and experiencing Isla all over again. Love to all....Noellen & Jackson
